Bajaj launches Discover 125ST in Tamilnadu at Ex-showroom price of Rs. 55,740
Bajaj Auto has launched its new Discover 125 ST motorcycle in
Tamilnadu at ex-showroom price of Rs. 55,740. With this entirely new
model of Discover 125cc, Bajaj Auto wants to strengthen its position in
125cc segment in year 2012. Last year the 125cc segment grew by
whopping 38% and it is growing in the range of 20-30% from last few
years.
Bajaj Auto President (Motorcycle Business) K Srinivas said, “Discover
ST is not an upgrade to a Discover model, but a new product in
B-segment (125cc). It constitutes almost 17 per cent of the market (in
the motorcycle segment) of which we have around 30 per cent market
share. What we are hoping through this product is more customers will
migrate to this segment.”
He added, “Our hope is that customers in the ‘A segment’ will migrate
to this and we also gain some market share through this distinguished
product. It will be suffice to say we are doing close to 50,000 units in
the 125 cc segment. We will be very surprised if we do not increase
that number substantially.”
Bajaj Discover 125 ST comes with segment first Monoshock suspension
and petal disk. It has four valve DTS-i engine which generates 13bhp of
power and 10.8 Nm torque. It can deliver mileage of 65 Km / liter under
normal riding conditions. It comes with fresh styling and will compete
with CB Shine which is selling like hot cake in 125cc segment. Let’s see
if Discover 125 ST can grab the position of CB Shine.
