Suzuki Motorcycle endorses Salman Khan as its brand ambassador

Suzuki Motorcycle India is all set to launch its mass motorcycle Hayate in the next month. The company has signed Salman Khan as its brand ambassador to market its products according to news reported by Economic Times. The first campaign featuring Salman will be based on its mass market motorcycle Hayate.  The company will also start mass media campaign to create awareness for Suzuki Brand. Suzuki Hayate is 110cc (112.8 cc) motorcycle which will compete against brand like Hero Splendour, Bajaj Discover and Honda’s upcoming motorcycle Dream Yuga.
Atul Gupta, vice-president (sales & marketing), SMIPL said, “While the motorcycle market in India is growing, brand loyalties remain strong. We needed to break into the clutter by differentiating our products and marketing strategy. We decided to sign on Salman Khan as he is a strong fit with the value-packed products we have scheduled for launch in the India market.”
Suzuki Motorcycle is also planning to increase its annual capacity from the current 3.6 lakhs units to 5.4 lakhs units by the year 2013. It will also double its sales and service network in the next two years.  The company is also planning to set up second plant in Haryana which attract an investment of Rs. 2,000 crore which will have an install capacity of 20 lakh units. The plant is expected to commence operation by 2014.
It seems that all the two wheeler companies are rushing to sign Bollywood actors. After John Abraham’s association with Yamaha and Amir Khan’s association with Mahindra Two Wheelers, now Salman Khan is associated with Suzuki Motorcycle. HMSI (Honda Motor Scooters and India Ltd) is also going to announce its brand ambassador for its upcoming mass media campaign very soon.
